BCCI usually checks on their centrally contracted players with a fitness test clearance popularly known as Yo-Yo test. Hardik Pandya and Prithvi Shaw were coming out of injury hence had to clear Yo-Yo test.
Yo-Yo test is conducted in NCA – National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Hardik Pandya is out of the action since World Cup 2021 and Venkatesh Iyer is playing as an All rounder in his absence in the Indian Cricket team.
Hardik Pandya cleared the Yo-Yo test easily with 17 plus score which is above cut off level. He also bowled at NCA which was not mandatory in the fitness assessment.
According to the reports Prithvi Shaw failed to pass the Yo-Yo test. Prithvi scored less than 15 in the test while the qualification score for men is 16.5
The results in the Yo-Yo test don’t hamper the placement in the IPL 2022, Prithvi Shaw can play play for Delhi Capitals.
Failure in the Yo-Yo test directly impacts the selection in the Indian National team.
The Yo-Yo test is a maximal aerobic endurance fitness test, involving running between markers placed 20 meters apart, at increasing speeds, until exhaustion.
IPL 2022 will be starting from 26th March 2022.
