India vs Srilanka Bengaluru pitch rated below average

The test series between India vs Srilanka has concluded, with India winning 2-0. The second test which was held in Bengaluru, was completed in three days.

ICC match referee Javagal Srinath termed the India vs Srilanka Bengaluru pitch as “below average”.  As per the report Srinath stated” The Pitch offered a lot of turn on the first day itself and though it improved with every session, in my view, it was not an even on test between batt and ball.”

The pitches rated below average by match referees receives one demerit point, poor receives three demerit point and unfit receives five demerit point according to the ICC pitch and Outfield Monitoring Process.

During the second test match bowlers dominated the entire test match. A total of 16 wickets fell itself during the first day.

The Indians were bowled out for 252 at the end of the day’s play, while Sri Lanka scored 86/6.. In the second innings India declared scoring 303/9 setting a target of 447 runs. Lankans where bowled out at 208 despite Dimuth Karunaratne scoring a brilliant century.

India won the match by 238 runs completing the series by 2-0 and jumped to No.4 in the World Test Championship Standings.

Team India moved to their respective IPL franchises after the series.
