When given the chance to bat, India amassed a decent 162 for 4 owing to opener Shafali Verma’s 26-ball 43 and Jemimah Rodrigues’ stunning unbeaten half-century (56 not out off 46 balls). The Barbados hitters were baffled by Renuka’s superb effort, and the Indians were able to limit Barbados to 62 for 8 in 20 overs. One wicket apiece was contributed by Sneh Rana, Meghna Singh, Radha Yadav, and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.
So Kyshona Knight led Barbados in scoring with 16, followed by Shakera Selman with 12. Seven of their batters failed to reach double figures in runs scored. Earlier, after getting dismissed for 64 runs, Barbados was defeated by Australia by nine wickets.
So india won the match and earned four points from two victories to finish behind Australia in Group A. (6 points from 3 matches). They had defeated Pakistan and lost to Australia in their previous games. The semifinal contests will be on Saturday.
