Perfect Inswinger by Renuka Singh

As Renuka struck on the final ball of the fifth over, Alleyne was out for a duck. She also kicked out Dottin, captain Hayley Matthews, and Kycia Knight.

So Renuka Singh’s four-wicket haul helped Team India defeat Barbados by 100 runs in the women’s T20 cricket Group A match of the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday. So this victory gave the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team a place in the semifinals. India scored 162 runs before bowling Barbados out for 62. Despite all these successes, everyone was focused on Renuka’s initiative to fire Aaliyah Alleyne. So in the sixth over of Barbados’ batting innings, Renuka threw an inswinger at Alleyne that completely stumped the hitter.

As the ball nipped back at an odd angle, the Barbados batsman decided not to take a stroke. Renuka continued to capture wickets, finishing with four; earlier, she had taken four against Australia.

When given the chance to bat, India amassed a decent 162 for 4 owing to opener Shafali Verma’s 26-ball 43 and Jemimah Rodrigues’ stunning unbeaten half-century (56 not out off 46 balls). The Barbados hitters were baffled by Renuka’s superb effort, and the Indians were able to limit Barbados to 62 for 8 in 20 overs. One wicket apiece was contributed by Sneh Rana, Meghna Singh, Radha Yadav, and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur.

So Kyshona Knight led Barbados in scoring with 16, followed by Shakera Selman with 12. Seven of their batters failed to reach double figures in runs scored. Earlier, after getting dismissed for 64 runs, Barbados was defeated by Australia by nine wickets.

So india won the match and earned four points from two victories to finish behind Australia in Group A. (6 points from 3 matches). They had defeated Pakistan and lost to Australia in their previous games. The semifinal contests will be on Saturday.
